Super Healthy Smooooothies

Blueberry, Mango and Banana Smoothies
I hope you guys are proud of me.

Another one of my new year’s resolutions was to pay attention to details (aka. put in the effort!), and people, that’s going to reflect in my blog from now on! So- when I made these amazingly yummy and simple blueberry, mango and banana smoothies, I bothered (instead of just DRINKING IT like I really wanted) to get out matching glasses, thread some fresh blueberries on sticks, hunt down some cute straws and even pick a little apple mint from Mum’s herb garden (mmhmmm, you heard me- herbs are happening).

And in my oh-so-humble opinion, they look awesome.

So. Uh, did I mention how super difficult they were to make? Alright, let me walk you through this one. You better be taking notes. Frozen yogurt, meet blueberries, banana and mango. Annnd blend.

Got it?

But seriously. Do this with whatever fruit. Let your imagination run wild! Like a deer, or something. But don’t put deer in your smoothie. That would be weird. Try some raspberries or pineapple instead. Or some honey/vanilla/cinnamon/coconut, if you like. Just not deer, kay?

But it’s the yogurt that does the trick. I literally just froze my own greek yogurt. (In a plastic container that I then somewhat destroyed). Mum had the bright idea of freezing it in ice cube containers instead. Clever woman, she is.
But I’m not done with the yogurt. It added the perfect amount of tang. Made it refreshing, and all that.

Okay, okay. Here’s a proper recipe, with measurements and stuff.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you love these as much as I do! (Which is a lot. You have big smoothie-loving shoes to fill.)

365: That Afternoon

365: That Afternoon

It was one of those afternoons, where the light fell so perfectly and softly on the west-facing walls, that you couldn’t help but pause and stare. It was one of those afternoons where the flowers, the sky; everything!- was lit so gloriously that you wouldn’t once consider tweaking it’s colours on photoshop. The wind whistled, and all I wanted was for the sun to stay exactly where it was, forever; and to lie out there in that golden glow until the afternoon’s end.

I’ve noticed a very strong theme in the blogging world of late. Namely, the new year that is upon us.

So naturally,

I decided to share a picture of my filthy feet.

But just in case this doesn’t make absolute perfect sense to you, I will explain the relationship between this and 2014. One of my most important resolutions for this year is to capture every day. Much like my 365 project last year, except this time, I will happily record each day however I can: a photo, of course; a drawing or painting (woo!); a video; a note, a quote, or even song lyrics. Anything that captures just how my life felt that day and brings my memories alive!

So the feet: they will remind me of the day I spent squirming about in the dirt, burning my hands on corrugated iron and pinching my fingers with pliers- building a compost bin for my mum. And what a hot, sticky, LONG day (the sun didn’t set until 7pm!) it was- but it felt great when it was done.

Anyway, I can’t wait to share more resolutions with you guys- especially since another one was to dedicate time to anything that matters– obvious, right? But when it comes to things like blogging or practicing my Spanish, time just seems to slip away!

Happy 2014 everyone! And I sincerely hope we can all make it count.

The Scrawny Tree

Our Christmas tree has always been health conscious.
She’s always worried about keeping fit and watching her weight, and going on all these crazy diets. And this Christmas, we’ve noticed she’s really shed some weight- all over the floor. And while we’re all very proud of her efforts healthwise, it’s been becoming more and more difficult to disguise her scrawny limbs beneath masses of baubles, bows and tinsel.
… but that won’t stop me trying.
… Did I mention how difficult it was to get those limbs to support all of these ornaments?

Worth it.
